Clinical and therapeutic casework
Karen works with individuals, couples and groups in therapy. She has a specialism of working with people affected by injuries, disabilities, acquired and traumatic brain injury and as well as a therapeutic practice she has a large medico-legal practice as an expert witness specialising in head injured, physical disabled and sexual and physical abused clients.
Her last public sector role was in HIV and Sexual Health where she worked in two roles as a practitioner and senior manager training consultant and policy advisor to the NHS and local authority. She has undertaken sex/sexuality programmes for clients with a learning disability and in particular cerebral palsy young people transitioning from child to adult wanting to be sexually active. This incorporates assessing clients’ capacity to give and receive consent.
She provides psychotherapy to a wide range of clients which includes long-term work with childhood trauma, emotional, sexual and physical for those who seek to develop and surface awareness of their internal world and connect their feelings and thoughts. This process builds on the most important relationship with themselves as well as those with partners, children, friends and family.
She undertakes medico-legal assessments on large and complex cases to provide independent care assessment reports and to be a witness in court in cases of personal injury litigation.
Executive Coaching, Training, Consultancy, Mentoring and Supervision
Karen is wholly committed to organisations being sufficiently functional to provide equitable and facilitative employment and services. These are the values on which she bases her leadership coaching. Coaching individual leaders, medical consultants and senior managers from a wide range of disciplines to reach their potential. She is a qualified supervisor for coaches, managers and therapists. Karen is associated with a number of organisations and is accredited as an Executive Coach by the NHS North of England. She works as a Coach with senior leaders including Directors, CEO and medical consultants.
Karen is currently providing supervision to the senior medical clinicians working within the hospice movement.
She is an associate of the Conscious Professional, based in Central London, Cogent Ventures based in Birmingham and Bush & Company Rehabilitation based in Daventry.
